Works have been completed on the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme Extension to Loughrea. This project provides a safe and secure water supply to over 8,500 local residents and businesses. Shareridge carried out these works on behalf of Irish Water, to provide a more reliable and secure water supply for people in Loughrea and surrounding areas and to also support future economic development in the area.
The project included the following works:
- Construction of approximately 20.8km of water mains from Carrowmonesh in Oranmore to Seefin Reservoir site located near Loughrea Town.
- Construction of a new 1,000m³ reservoir at Seefin.
- Provision of two new regional booster pumping stations at Seefin and Derrydonnell.
- Provision of two new local booster pumping stations at Lake Road and Knockanima.
- Decommissioning of two existing water treatment plants in Loughrea.
Throughout this wide ranging scheme, continuous engagement with property owners, the general public and key stakeholders was a key priority. And we are delighted to have been part of this vital scheme providing a safer and more secure supply for residents and businesses, and improved drinking water quality.
