Shareridge is currently undertaking the next phase of East Meath’s Windmill Hill Reservoir & Trunk Watermain to Ratoath Project. This significant project, commissioned by Uisce Éireann – Irish Water in collaboration with Meath County Council, aims to enhance the water infrastructure in the region.
The primary goal of this project is to quadruple the storage capacity at Windmill Hill Reservoir and replace the outdated watermain connecting the Reservoir to Ratoath Village. This involves upgrading over 7 kilometers of old and problematic watermains, which have been prone to frequent bursts and have caused numerous water supply disruptions for residents in Ratoath, Kilbride, and Ashbourne.
The new watermains will be constructed using high-density polyethylene (plastic) pipes. This upgrade is expected to not only reduce the incidence of bursts but also address issues of low water pressure, particularly in Ratoath during peak demand periods.
